You know it’s summer when your neighbor’s dog comes out and sits on your deck. I imagine that is what they do to see the world. It is also what they do every time you open the curtains in your windows. I’m pretty sure they don’t see you. Because you aren’t there.

It is summer here in England and in my town there are ward weavers. They weave the curtains and the carpets and the blankets that we use as bedding. They are not quite as well-known as, say, the English summer lawn mower or the English summer jumper or the British summer blower, but I have heard of them and I am sure they are a lot less harmless than they look.
The other day, as I was sitting watching the weather report on television, I heard a woman say, “It’s starting to look as if the weather is going to let up this weekend.” Well, that’s not entirely true. In fact, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. The sun is going to rise on Tuesday. The rain is going to fall on Wednesday.
Oh, you mean like a weather report? Yeah, that’s another thing that’s going to be a problem. On Tuesday, it will rain. On Wednesday, it will rain. And on Thursday, it might rain. So you won’t be able to get away with just sitting on the lawn or sitting in the grass, for that matter. But the best thing to do to fix this issue is to cut the grass on Wednesday, just before the rain.
You can always put a garden hose or some kind of water in your garden. It has a pretty good effect on your garden, so you can even put a spray from the hose on your garden. That will help you get rid of dirt and debris.
Of course having a lawn is good, but cutting the grass on a Wednesday before the rain could have some significant benefits for your garden.

Of course the spray will be more effective if the area you want to kill is moist. So next time you do not cut your grass and instead just spray it with an herbicide and see how it goes.
